FARM AND EATING HEALTHY
Sustainable Eating and Global Health
With the aim of promoting the use of native ingredients and healthy lifestyle habits, we have created an organic school garden where we grow local vegetables and greens, also incorporating a composting area. This initiative directly responds to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), raising student awareness about the importance of avoiding globalized products that harm the environment and fostering the consumption of «Km 0» products. Aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and with the invaluable help of families, traditional Mediterranean diet recipes have been prepared and documented in subtitled video tutorials, which has facilitated the inclusion of people with functional diversity and collaborations with local special education organizations. Furthermore, the garden has served as a living laboratory, reinforcing our commitment to SDG 13 (Climate Action).

We had already prepared the school garden last spring. First, the students studied the
17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, organic farming, local vegetables, and
cultivation methods. Then, they chose the best spot for our garden, and we built it.
Also the students interviewed an agronomist and then we harvested vegetables, some
of which we provided to the school cantina, and we used the rest to prepare two
traditional recipes.
In October, we planted winter vegetables, and we also plan to create a small recycling
corner for the garden waste.
